Generator announces FFWD programme offering free music courses

Music development agency Generator has launched FFWD, a new artist development programme designed to discover and develop talent and potential amongst emerging electronic music producers in the region. The Applications process for this exciting the programme is now live!

FFWD is looking for dedicated young people (16-24) with an existing interest in produced electronic music and a passion to learn. A basic experience of music production software would be beneficial but not absolutely essential. All stylistic preferences will be considered from HipHop , Electronica and Drum n Bass, to House , Techno and Dubstep, and the skills you develop can be applied to your preferred style while working alongside Pop, Urban and Electronic music experts.
 
Led by Mark Lowry (Shindig) and Smoove (Smoove and Turrell), FFWD will provide entry points to aspiring electronic music producers and vocalists who will get the opportunity to build, mix and record new tracks, set-up new collaborations, receive mentorship, secure performance opportunities and identify industry pathways.

Production courses lasting 6 weeks, will run throughout 2015 however the first course will begin on Tuesday 3rd February. While there will be no cost to participate, spaces will be extremely limited. Also, as part of Generator ‘s search for individuals who show commitment, ability and potential, there will be an extension to these 6-week courses where exceptional participants will be selected to receive shorter, more intense support. This will include one-on-one tuition alongside full campaign and release support.

FFWD will be linked intrinsically to the industry with high profile producers and songwriters delivering 12 masterclasses throughout the year where they will offer insights into their own work, and creative processes but most importantly, offer information on their individual routes into the industry.  Producer and Course leader Mark Lowry (Shindig) agrees, adding: “If you’re serious about your music and production then this course is a must”

Session Times: Tuesday and Thursday 5-9pm

FFWD is supported by Youth Music and forms part of Generator’s ‘Music Futures’ project:

•    The Music Futures project is part financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), managed by the Department for Communities and Local Government, securing £600,000 ERDF investment.
•    The ERDF Competitiveness Programme 2007-2013 is bringing over £300m into the North East to support innovation, enterprise and business support across the region and will help create and safeguard 28,000 new jobs, start 3,000 new businesses and increase the region’s productivity by £1.1bn per annum.
•    The project will make a major contribution to the ambition of the ERDF Competitiveness Programme 2007-2013 by increasing the numbers and survival of business start ups in the region and increasing business productivity.
