Late February will see Amam return with a split EP from roster artists 000 and Dakpa, entitled ‘Think Less’ and comprising four original tracks.
2015 will see Amam mark its fifth anniversary, now over sixty releases deep it can boast an extraordinary roster of talent with material from the likes of Jay Haze, Avatism, LoSoul and [a]pendics.shuffle featuring amongst the back catalogue. For it’s latest release Amam pushes on to prove once again why It’s a driving force for intelligent music with brand new cuts from two label favourites.
On the A-side, Mallorca’s Dakpa opens with ‘Insloud’, a melding of staccato clicks and warm ethereal ambience, managing to melt the seven and a half minute duration into an extended, gradually unfolding sequence. ‘Pira2’ follows and shows a different, more hyperactive side of Dakpa with baroque evolvements and an ever-bubbling structure laid out with a frenzied, mind-bending feel.
Sardinia’s 000 steps up on the B-side with ‘Brkln Ten’, fuelled by its mechanical groove and undercut by freewheeling whirrs and rippling outbursts to create a gritty, understated vibe. Finally, the dark and smoky ‘Organic’ closes the package, offering a sense of suspense as the kinetic shuffle provides the backbeat for the twists and turns of atonal horn sounds.
