15 Years of Robsoul Recordings

Longevity in the fickle world of dance music is a rare characteristic, as labels, producers and DJs come and go.  So for Parisian stalwart Phil Weeks and his ever reliable Robsoul imprint, with 15 years of pumping out high quality, resolutely underground house music is a cause for celebration and this August, they’ll be doing just that.

To mark their 15 years in the business, Robsoul are releasing a special anniversary compilation, which will be let loose in 3 parts during August.  Each part will concentrate on different period from the label, Part one features the early releases from 1999 – 2004, Part two covers 2005 – 2009 while the final instalment brings us right up to date covering 2010 – 2014.  Each volume is handpicked and mixed with love by label boss Phil Weeks, with the tracks also being available for individual download.

Speaking about the landmark, Phil Weeks commented, “It’s so hard to believe that 15 years has come this quickly. I’m very happy that we’ve achieved this and worked with so many great artists who have helped to make Robsoul well known everywhere I go.”

Since the label’s beginnings in 1999, Robsoul releases have featured in the playlists of pretty much anyone who plays underground house music, consistently picking up compliments and support from the likes X-Press 2, Terry Farley, DJ Sneak and other heavy hitters. Robsoul has become a trademark, a guarantee for anyone needing serious, no-nonsense house music.   Aside from Phil Week’s own raw MPC driven beats tracks, Robsoul has also featured Eps and remixes from some of the finest names in house music.  The 15 year compilations showcase a wide range of these artists including DJ Sneak, Mark Farina, Paul Woolford, JT Donaldson, David Duriez, Fries & Bridges, Chris Carrier, Joss Moog, Theo Parrish, Toka Project and many more.  With each compilation featuring a selection of the very finest Robsoul tracks from their extensive back catalogue, they provide a portrait of a label that has been at the top of its game for years.

Phil Weeks remains as excited as he ever was and you can be sure that 15 years is still very much the beginning of what’s still to come with Robsoul: “I get so much great music and I have so many ideas that its not always possible to do everything. For now I’m looking forward to this exciting new project to celebrate our first 15 years, and just keep doing what we do into the future.”
