44 Ardent – ‘don’t give up on me’

44 Ardent is an anonymous Australian producer who has a sound that can be likened to a mix between Caribou, Tourist and Odesza.

44 Ardent has been very busy this year after setting himself a goal to release a new single every month. As we roll into mid-August it is now time for his next offering which is an invigorating indie-dance track called “don’t give up on me”, which he says has come from the freedom of experimenting with different sounds and ideas and is aimed at trying to capture the feeling of being overwhelmed and needing to take a step back.

This year has been  a bit of an exploratory period for 44 Ardent. When I made my ‘intothedeep’ album in 2022, it was a structured body of work and had a fairly clear style. Doing a big run of singles this year has given me the chance to explore, and I am enjoying the process of experimenting with different sounds. I am not sure where the things will land at the end, but I am having a lot of fun creating, which to me is the most important part.

Next year I plan to release another cohesive project, but for the time being I hope you enjoy my sonic experiments. ‘don’t give up on me’ tries to capture the feeling of being overwhelmed and needing to take a step back. Sometimes you have to pause certain things in life in order to find balance. It’s definitely okay to find some breathing space, but sometimes loved ones can be left in the dark if you don’t communicate clearly. In this song there are some sections which feel like explosions of energy, which is how it can feel sometimes when you give yourself some extra freedom.” ~ 44 Ardent
