5 Years of Gruuv EP 1

This summer will mark the celebration of 5 Years for Audiojack’s Gruuv imprint with a run of six various artist EP’s, up first is this five tracker featuring Marcin Czubula, Audiojack, Ekkohaus, Dachshund and Channel X.

AUDIOJACK : ‘’It’s been an incredible ride this past 5 years. Thanks to all who’ve played our records. One year ago we began compiling this project to celebrate 5 years of Gruuv and we’re delighted to have 24 of our favourite producers from 10 countries contribute exclusive new music.

As a compilation it comes in two parts, themed simply as Day and Night. The music will be released on 6 EPs every two weeks throughout the summer and features artwork from one of our favourite artists, the renowned Victoria Topping. Each EP will be released on limited edition vinyl, with a free poster and sticker inside, uniquely stamped from 001 – 500.

Thanks to everyone involved, all around the world. Music provides the greatest unity. It strips away indifferences, supersedes language, nationality, culture, all defining human factors, and leaves one common thing we can all interpret; sound.

Audiojack x’’
Marcin Czubula’s ‘Alpine’ opens up the package and sees the Polish producer deliver an infectious slice of piano laden house kicking things off nicely with a smooth and melodious opening number. Audiojack’s ‘In One Ear’ follows and sees the duo utilize an amalgamation of sampled jazzy Rhodes licks alongside a bumpy bass hook and swinging beats.

Ekkohaus delivers a typically groovy percussive led number next with ‘Burnin Up’, bringing his signature bumpy rhythmic shuffle to the forefront alongside fluttering synth swells and snaking sub hits, Dachshund follows bringing a warm and ethereal feel to the package with classic drum breaks, hypnotic atmospheres and a subtly blooming pad line. Channel X’s ‘For You’ then rounds off the package, upping the energy levels with a driving bass hook, jangling percussive rolls and meandering background stab hits.

The ‘5 Years of Gruuv’ releases kick off with a bang and it’s just a taste of what’s yet to come over the succeeding five EP’s. The ‘5 Years of Gruuv EP 1’ is out on Gruuv 8th June 2015.
