Damo Cox drops delicious double hitter EP – out now on Sorta Kinda Music
Aussie Damo Cox comes out swinging with a belter of a doubleheader EP on his own Sorta Kinda Music imprint, ‘Wub Me’. Featuring two singles that sit on the opposite end of the feels spectrum, the seasoned Antipodean producer dishes up feel-gound, bouncy vibes with ‘Get With Me’, and deliciously built grooves with flipside ‘Deep Wubs’. While one calls to the dance floor, the other calls to the bean bags in the chill-out area, the selection tugging and twisting at the listener for attention. In both cases the production is simple but confident, showing an innate knowledge of exactly how clubland works for its willing participants.
“I have been working hard over the last few years to try and create a sound that people recognise as mine, without being pigeonholed into a particular genre,” Cox said. “Which is why even though I started writing these two tracks around the same time they have taken two totally different paths, which is cool. Get With Me is club ready and made with the vibe to get you bouncing around and sweaty on the dance floor, while Deep Wubs takes you on an emotional rollercoaster hitting you right in the feels.”
Cox has been a rising name for years now, his profile firmly established down under thanks to his Sorta Kinda Music show on legendary Gold Coast broadcaster Radio Metro. With spots on the line-ups of Splendour In The Grass, Initiation NYE Festival, Global Island Party, Wonderland and Bondstock, he’s also released on the likes of WyldCard Records and Hot Sunday Records, and played alongside Phil Smart, Wongo, Dena Amy, Airwolf Paradise, Spenda C, Lo’99, Yolanda Be Cool, LDRU, Torren Foot and Nina Las Vegas.
