DRKTMS drop introspective debut album ‘Bupropion’

Swiss producer DRKTMS makes an immersive statement with the release of his debut album Bupropion, out now. Fusing lo-fi textures, chill house rhythms and a sprinkling of traditional songwriting, the rising electronic artist becomes a central player for ambient dance as his following becomes international. The project is a high-water mark for his career to date.

Nine tracks blend hazy synths, dreamy atmospheres and driving grooves, balancing a delicate tension of silky, polished production and raw emotional introspection. Crossing infectious energy with sonic nuance.

“With ‘Bupropion’, I’ve started to record my own vocals for the first time,” DRKTMS explains. “I was really inspired by artists like ‘The Blaze’ and ‘Paul Kalkbrenner’ and the way that they changed their vocal tones with digital effects. So I was experimenting with a couple of plugins including a Choir-Plugin and “Little Alterboy”, which gave a new tone to my voice which I really liked. I think as a producer, to like your own voice, you kind of have to jump into cold water and just try everything out.”

Having emerged on the scene with remixes on Majestic Causal and a collaborative project with Milesikco, he became a recognised up next artist. Bupropion not only showcases his evolution as a producer but also his ambition as a solo artist, bringing emotion to the dancefloor with a distinctively settled edge.
