N/UM: Pure Improvised Electronica from the Heart of New York

Few places in the world ignite creative energy like New York. The city is a constant collision of cultures, sounds and ideas, a place where boundaries blur and new movements are born. It is from this backdrop that N/UM have emerged, redefining what live electronic music can be.

The trio has built an international reputation by doing what most electronic acts would never dare. Their music is entirely improvised, composed and performed live using analog synthesizers, modular gear, drum machines, guitar and vocals. No pre-written material, no fixed arrangements, no edits. What you hear is pure instinct unfolding in real time. The group consists of Grammy-winning engineer and producer Jeremy Loucas, guitarist Elias Meister and Danish multi-instrumentalist Emil Bovbjerg. Together, they have taken their radical approach to some of the world’s most respected stages including Mutek Montréal, Robot Heart, Fusion Festival and Movement Detroit.

Their latest release, Fade The Heart, captures that same spirit of immediacy and unpredictability. Recorded in a single, emotionally charged session, the four-track EP offers a deep dive into hypnotic minimalism, rich analog textures and evolving, groove-driven narratives. Each track feels alive, shifting and breathing with the energy of the moment. For those who crave raw, unfiltered electronic music with true artistic edge, N/UM deliver exactly that.
