JVLY – LOCUM (Lemonade Baby Remix)
Back in December, Australian artist JVLY announced he was working on a deluxe edition of his exceptional 2025 ep SUNDER, which will feature a remix of each track alongside a previously unheard B-side written during the original SUNDER sessions.
He kicked things off then with a stunning rework of “DROWNING IN MY ROOM” from French artist/producer Contrecoeur, who transformed the song’s delicate emotion into a hypnotic, groove-laced experience.
JVLY is giving us the next taste of that project this week with an invigorating remix of “LOCUM” by Brisbane producer Lemonade Baby, who infuses the track with his signature blend of buoyant rhythms, warm indie-dance sensibilities, and breezy electronic textures. His reimagining brings a vibrant new pulse to one of SUNDER’s most introspective moments, offering a refreshing contrast that still honours the mood of the original.
JVLY: “I met Brannon (Lemonade Baby) at SXSW, a few of us were just hanging out catching shows, and I was right in the middle of working on SUNDERLUXE when we started chatting about it. He mentioned he’d be keen to try take LOCUM into a new space, which to me straight away felt like such an interesting fit.
His sound has a lot of soul but also has this fun sort of lightness and movement to it that really leans into the irony at the core of the song, so I was hyped to hear the idea. LOCUM has always felt tender on the surface but actually it’s pretty brutal underneath, and this re-imagination doesn’t really soften that at all. If anything, it probably shines a brighter light on how un-tender it actually is.”
Lemonade Baby: “I met Kayle in Sydney during SXSW 2025, where he mentioned plans for a remix album tied to a record he’d released earlier that year. I asked if I could be involved, and he told me LOCUMwas his favourite track—and the only one yet to be remixed. After spending some time with the song, I decided to approach it from the opposite direction. The original is a slow, 6/4 R&B ballad, so I reimagined it as a fast, melancholic electronic track, reshaping its emotional core while keeping its spirit intact.”
