From Raw Groove to Explosive Rework: Beltram Ignites BDC’s Vision
Downside Up Recordings returns with A Thousand Cuts Vol. 2, a razor-sharp continuation of the label’s minimalist techno vision, pairing label founder BDC (Brandon De Carlo) with NYC techno icon Joey Beltram. The release centers on “The Dregs Of,” a raw, peak-time driver built on a relentless groove, gravel-textured synth lines, and unpredictable drone frequencies that cut straight to the floor. Beltram’s rework pushes the original into deeper, more explosive territory—stripping, rebuilding, and elevating the track into something darker, tougher, and unmistakably his own. The EP is rounded out by “Mile In My,” a hypnotic, early-morning tool perfect for stretched-out sets, and the mind-warping abstract, DJ tool “Valley Of The,” making this a fully realized, start-to-finish statement.
Joey Beltram, a true pioneer whose influence has shaped techno for over three decades, brings his signature intensity and fearless experimentation to the project, reaffirming his status as a genre-defining force. Brandon De Carlo (bdc) continues to refine his stripped-back, functional aesthetic—raw, purposeful, and deeply rooted in the underground. A Thousand Cuts Vol. 2 will be available digitally and on vinyl in two color options: Black and a Blue/White Hi-Melt, mastered by Hardgroove Mastering (UK) and featuring custom artwork by CutForms. Only 90 copies of each color will be made available—this very rare release will sell out fast.
