Modern Funktion Celebrates Five Year Anniversary Tour
Leading underground event brand Modern Funktion, whose main focus is creating culture, marks its five-year anniversary with an expansive European summer tour, bringing its signature sound to London, Barcelona, Malta, Amsterdam, Ibiza, Croatia, and beyond. In what promises to be the brand’s biggest year to date, the innovative event series will showcase performances from both established names and rising stars in dance music, further cementing Modern Funktion’s reputation as a tastemaker with a finely tuned ear for underground talent.
The anniversary celebrations began in January with a standout event at The Cause, featuring memorable sets from B.Love, Captain Wallop, DJ Perception, Dr Dubplate, Sweely, The Trip, and Truly Madly. Building on this momentum, Modern Funktion heads to Barcelona for OFF Sonar, hosting a series of highly anticipated events featuring Dr Banana, Shanti Celeste b2b Peach, and The Ghost. The tour continues in Ibiza with Kepler b2b Phil & Benji, Locklead, and Bullet Tooth and will deliver the brand’s distinctive energy to the island. Modern Funktion will also join Defected Croatia for its final season at The Garden, with performances from Jeremy Sylvester, LP Rhythm, and Laidlaw. Additional appearances include Eastern Electrics, featuring Ella Knight, Mella Dee b2b Reeshy, and Truly Madly, as well as Hide & Seek Festival, iconic venue Shelter in Amsterdam and events in Zurich, Malta, Manchester, Leeds and more.
The anniversary tour welcomes a host of debutants, including Egyptian Lover, Fumiya Tanaka, Peach, Shanti Celeste, Gene, Dungeon Meat, Jamback, Kepler, A for Alpha, Mella Dee, and DJSweet6Teen. Joining them are Modern Funktion’s core residents Phill de Janeiro & Benji King, Izzy, Jude Lenihan, j:me, and Mya, who continue to shape the brand’s unmistakable sound.

Memorable highlights include hosting Across Boundaries (Chris Stussy and Locklead) for their London debut, as well as Max Deann and Luke Dean, further establishing their place in the scene. Bringing together tastemaker artists including FREAKENSTEIN, T.Jaques, Josh Baker, Ron Obvious, Ella Knight, Tristan da Cunha, and more, the anniversary of the label and event series is set to be their biggest year yet.
