VÆB – ‘GAMERBOI’ Out Now
Icelandic duo VÆB return with their new single “GAMERBOI”, released 27 February 2026, offering the latest preview of their forthcoming debut album VÆBOUT, due 17 April 2026.
Formed by brothers Matthias David Matthiasson and Halfdan Helgi Matthiasson, VÆB have built a reputation for combining emotional pop songwriting with internet culture, humour and high-energy production. Created alongside producer Ingi Bauer, “GAMERBOI” draws inspiration from late-night gaming sessions and livestream culture, capturing the immersive experience of getting lost in a digital world.
The track features playful, retro-inspired elements influenced by classic video games, layered with contemporary pop production. Lyrically, it explores themes of escapism, obsession and connection, reflecting the blurred boundaries between online and offline life.
“GAMERBOI” follows a breakthrough period for the duo, including their 2025 single “RÓA”, which represented Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest and became one of the country’s most successful entries in recent years. Their growing international audience has continued to expand ahead of a nearly sold-out European tour.
The accompanying music video, directed by longtime collaborator Addi Nabblakusk (Arnfinnur), combines live action and animation, with contributions from a global network of artists connected through the band’s Discord community.
