Over two decades on from its original release, West African DJ and producer AMÉMÉ brings his signature Afro-leaning tech house vision to one of bhangra’s most recognisable cuts

Over 20 years ago, Panjabi MC’s landmark production on ‘Mundian To Bach Ke’ cemented its place in cultural history by bridging the South Asian underground with the Western mainstream, with its hypnotic bhangra-laced groove and prominently known for JAY-Z early spin on the release. Now, in 2026, it’s receiving its first official remix from West African DJ, producer and One Tribe founder AMÉMÉ.

This refreshed edition sees the beloved classic reworked and remoulded into a sharp, future-forward cut from one of the scene’s most compelling forces. With ‘Mundian To Bach Ke’s sonic identity being second to none, AMÉMÉ has ensured to honour its DNA all while pulling it through a futuristic tech house lens, while also threading in the tribal percussion, spiritual energy and driving momentum that have become hallmarks of his sound.

Birmingham-born Rajinder Singh Rai, known worldwide as Panjabi MC, is one of the most prominent figures in bhangra and a pivotal force in bringing South Asian music to a global audience. His 2002 single ‘Mundian To Bach Ke’ remains one of the best-selling singles of all time, shifting approximately 10 million copies worldwide and crossing over into mainstream pop and club culture on a scale few records from the genre have matched before or since.

Born and raised in Benin, West Africa, AMÉMÉ (Hubert Sodogandji) is the founder of One Tribe — a global community and brand built around unity and positive intent. Building his sound around Afro-leaning electronic music, his catalogue is rooted in tribal percussion, spiritual vocals and contemporary deep house and tech, leading to a rise across the global circuit that’s been both rapid and purposeful. Releases on his One Tribe label have earned the support of Black Coffee, opening doors to signings with Watergate Records, Blond:Ish’s Abracadabra label and MoBlack. More recently, Améme was tapped by Sire Records (Warner) to remix fellow African artist Omah Lay’s ‘Understand’, selected specifically for his deep connection to the continent’s musical lineage. From Burning Man to Ibiza, Berlin to Tulum, AMÉMÉ continues to unite dance floors across the world, continuing his ascent with his latest remix of Panjabi MC’s generational classic.
