There’s something especially cruel about missing someone when the weather is this good. The evenings stretch out, the group chat fills with plans, and every song seems to belong to someone having the time of their life. Enter Awesimon, whose latest single, ‘Heartbreak in the Summer’, gives those quietly unravelling a soundtrack of their own.

Hailing from Drogheda, Awesimon began making music in 2016, experimenting with FL Studio in his bedroom and passing early tracks around his circle of friends. Inspired by Drake, Travis Scott, Kanye West and Chris Brown, he first explored rap and hip-hop, trying out flows and cadences as he worked towards a sound of his own. Slowing the tempo and leaning into R&B brought a new sense of clarity, giving his personal experiences space to shape the songs.
Releases including ‘Finer Things’, ‘Waiting for You’ and ‘One and Only’ have since introduced an artist comfortable slipping between melodic rap and singing, with emotional honesty running through both. His catalogue has picked up support from Hot Press, District Magazine and Today FM, including a Track of the Week on the station, while live appearances include Odd Mollie’s for Cats n Dogs and Breaking Sound in Dublin.
With ‘Heartbreak in the Summer’, that openness becomes the main attraction. Awesimon is still attached, still hopeful and still unsure what getting over someone is supposed to feel like.
