Bugged Out Weekender 2015 – The Chemical Brothers DJ Set and more confirmed
Following its launch announcement earlier this month, the Bugged Out Weekender is excited to welcome back The Chemical Brothers as headliners to this year’s line up, who will be playing an exclusive DJ set.
With four Grammies, a Brit Award, five number one albums and 13 top 20 singles in the UK, scores of anthems, and now a concert movie ‘Don’t Think’ all under their belt The Chemical Brothers are acclaimed for helping to shift dance music from subculture to mainstream. Renowned for their blasting performances and famously psychedelic sets, The Chemical Brothers are guaranteed to deliver an epic exclusive DJ set.
The Chemical Brothers have a long standing relationship with Bugged Out that extends all the way back to 1994 when they were still known as the Dust Brothers. Since then they have grown alongside the club playing at their festivals, last at Bugged Out Weekender 2013, and club nights all over the UK and even sharing a DJ: Bugged Out resident James Holroyd who is also their established world tour DJ.
Back for the second year in a row, Norwegian producer extraordinaire Todd Terje will be celebrating the success of his recent debut release ‘It’s Album Time’, bringing his ‘Space Disco’ sound to Butlins with a special live set featuring deathless club hit ‘Inspector Norse’ an instrumental that inspires mass singalongs.
Joining them will be Magnetic Man’s British producer Artwork, London-based Hessle Audio label co-founder and DJ Ben UFO, dancefloor-filler and techno entity Ghost Culture who is set to release his debut album later this autumn, Swedish house DJ Axel Boman, and Montreal-based label boss of Turbo Records and Bugged Out veteran, Tiga, who has a huge hit on his hands with summer anthem ‘Bugatti’.
The Bugged Out Weekender has become something of a staple in the dance music fan’s calendar. The previous sold-out years have provided some exceptional moments with both dance music’s freshest and most established talent. From Route 94 dropping his number 1 record Your Love (the hour it went to number 1) to a dance-floor packed full of fans who sung the song back to the producer, to The Chemical Brothers blowing the roof off with their extra special set in in 2013 and the 2 Bears getting an entire swimming pool of people dancing at the pool party last year – Bugged Out Weekender is the dance music event of the year.
Throughout this year, Bugged Out, one of the UK’s most enduring, influential club nights, continue to celebrate their 20 year anniversary – an enormous accomplishment and an epic journey marked with some truly memorable moments. It has, over this time, become something of clubbing phenomenon. Evolving out of dance music institution Jockey Slut magazine (RIP) in 1994 at Sankeys Soap in Manchester where the likes of Daft Punk, Richie Hawtin and the Chemical Brothers played early shows. Since then Bugged Out has thrown regular parties in London, Liverpool, Ibiza, Milan, Barcelona and continues to act as a habitual destination for fans of cutting edge dance music.
2014 has been a landmark year for Bugged Out – celebrating its 20 year anniversary this year, the media praise surrounding the anniversary has been effusive, with Vice/Thump running an informative and humorous documentary on the Godfather of UK club brands http://bit.ly/1eEXBPc, whilst i-D magazine published an eight page tribute. 20 years on and Bugged Out continues to act as a pioneer in dance music, predicting trends and discovering new talent.
