Selador Showcase – Second Edition
Clear the decks! The second instalment of Selador’s Showcase Series is here…
Label bosses Dave Seaman & Steve Parry have been busy gathering together some familiar label favourites alongside an array of exciting new talent. The album features a total of ten exclusive tracks from some of the artists that will be spearheading the label over the coming months. And being the kind, considerate souls that they are, they’ve split the album up into two easily digestible parts: Part One is released 23rd March and Part Two follows on 30th March 2015.
Part One gets off to a flying start with the inimitable Piemont. The German duo have been stalwarts of the Selador label from the very beginning and it’s great to have them back with a brand new original track, entitled “You”. This little gem dishes up wave upon wave of classy house textures, a stylish and assured creation that is effortlessly smooth and unmistakably Piemont. Just the way we like it!
Next in line, it’s our great pleasure to welcome Third Son to the Selador roster. This young Welsh wizard has been steadily make a name for himself with releases on Noir Music, Material & Suara (amongst others) and now it’s time for his Selador debut. “How I Feel” is a hypnotic slice of tech-house – dark and chilling in all the right places, it powers along with all the swagger of a young gunslinger. Fire!
Portuguese born, Berlin based, producer Joal follows up his successful “Climbers” Remix for the label next, with the first of a handful of original productions already lined up from him. “Tomorrow” is a captivating serving of modern deep house, which commandeers more than it’s fair share of otherworldly magic – spell-binding stuff.
Another new name we welcome into the fold, Jaap Ligthart, weighs in with “Tour De Jours” – a wonderfully restrained and sophisticated piece of deep house that steadily creeps up on you when you least expect it. This serves as a prequel to his first fully-fledged release for the label, currently in the scheduling queue patiently waiting its turn, so this is a tasty taster if you will.
And finally for Part One, Berlin-based Justin Massei returns after his debut on the first Selador Showcase compilation, with “Tell Them”, a solid gold specimen of proper house music, full of infectious energy, driven by relentless synth stabs and employing a cheeky wee vocal sample – we dare you not to dance to this!
No sooner have you had chance to catch your breath from the delights of Part One, then Part Two arrives in the stores one week later. Hot on the heels of the first objects of lust and desire, Selador bring you another bespoke capsule collection of electronic battle weapons especially designed for your delight and delectation.
This time around, leading from the front is label ambassador and all round top bloke, Robert Babicz, who brings yet another slice of Babicz-style goodness in the form of “Auralphase”. Layer upon layer of elegant melodies sitting atop a strong rhythmic backbone and just the right dose of acid, its business as usual from the big man, classy and emotive.
Andrea Arcangeli & Pakkio Sans bring forth “We Oppose It” next, a wonderful melodic gem that’s been heavily road-tested by both Messrs Seaman & Parry over the last few months. The Italian duo are hot off the back of recent releases for the likes of Parquet and Smiley Fingers and this will only serve to cement their burgeoning reputation. Get on board!
UK producer, Dom Kane follows with “Crisis Aborted”, featuring cleverly programmed, interwoven arp patterns astride a seductive groove. This has been an office favourite for some time now and so we’re very happy to be able to finally share it. A secret weapon if ever there was one!
New boy to the Selaldor family, Roland M Dill, then brings some “Winter Splendor” to proceedings in his own inimitable way. As long time fans of the German producer, we are so pleased to have him on board and this beautifully crafted piece of work certainly doesn’t disappoint. The devil’s in the detail…
And wrapping things up, Dimitri Nakov returns to Selador after his recent Dee Montero remix, this time collaborating with B-Vision on the exquisite “Vapour”. And, whilst they may be the rear-guard on this delicious two part compilation, rest assured they’re not just here to make up the numbers – on the contrary, they close things out in a celebratory blaze of glory.
So, that’s ten, deliciously tasty morsels to get your teeth into, spread across two parts of the new Selador Showcase collection. Don’t be shy. Tuck in!
