Nina Yasmineh - Pirates
Brooklyn’s Nina Yasmineh adds newness and depth to the pop-songwriter genre by juxtaposing catchy melodies with intimate vocals and darker, confessional lyrics. She is on the forefront of a new era of female indie artists like Lorde and Zella Day with a unique sound that at once conveys an ethereal softness and a tougher edge.
Raised on the indie scene of Minneapolis, MN, Nina moved to NYC to attend New York University and upon graduating in 2013, she wrote, recorded and produced her first EP “Seven Years”. This acclaimed debut effort was followed by Yasmineh’s “Finest Hour” EP and “Dark Heart” EP in 2014, all garnering high praise from a wide range of blogs and music publications including The Deli NYC, HillyDilly and Kings of A&R. She performs at well-known NYC venues like Pianos, The Living Room and Rockwood Music Hall and has nurtured an adoring local following.
Nina’s self-produced new single “Pirates” is whimsical and haunting; a synth-pop gem featuring the artist’s signature mystical charm and honest introspection. Born out of run-ins with fly-by-night lovers, the lyrics are both sweetly sad and quietly defiant.
