Sonny Alven - Backseat Lovin’
Norwegian breakthrough artist Sonny Alven reveals his latest melodic production, ‘Backseat Lovin’, out today via Universal Music.
A soft, and melancholic record, guided by a sultry female vocal, the track follows Sonny’s various 2017 successes, including Dragonette collaboration ‘Awake’, dreamy GOLDENS collaboration ‘Cool With You’, and his highly acclaimed Girls EP.
Having worked with a string of upcoming talent from around the world, Sonny’s latest serving leads with soft percussive tones to create the ultimate after-party vibe, filled with lusciously chilled, down-tempo chords.
“I wrote “Backseat Lovin'” together with another songwriter in Stockholm,” says Sonny. “We wanted to create this slow and beautiful song, inspired by the mid 90's. It was just one of those perfect days in the studio, where everything worked out. I couldn't be happier with how it all came about.”
Growing up in Fana, a suburb to Norway´s 2nd largest city Bergen (also home of fellow producers Kygo and Alan Walker), the now 24-year-old DJ and producer started out in his teens dropping remixes online. Massive support from the online community soon inspired him to create his own original music (and spend a couple of years studying electronic music at University), all leading up to signing a record deal withUniversal Music and scoring his first hit with "Our Youth", which has achieved over 35M streams. The single, which spent 4 weeks at #2 in the Norwegian radio charts, was nominated for a Norwegian Grammy and catapulted Sonny into the public eye.
After amassing over 100M streams on Spotify alone, thanks to ‘California Girls’ which reached #1 on HypeMachine, Sonny is now crafting his productions in a new direction, in the vein of international electronic tastemaker acts such as HONNE, Filous, ODESZA, Two Feet and Astronomy.
‘Backseat Lovin’ showcases the delicately crafted productional skills and diversity of Sonny Alven, confirming the Norwegian’s prestigious place as one of music’s fastest rising talents, and looks set for huge success upon release.
