At its core, ‘Santa Maria’ explores duality. ÆTHR describes it as a double metaphor — on the surface portraying a saintly figure whose purity is only an illusion, while underneath representing temptation, chaos and the shadows we often try to suppress.
“The second meaning is the ‘Santa Maria’ inside of me,” he explains. “The part of myself that I try to control but sometimes surrender to — my hidden desires, my impulses, my shadows. This song is about confronting that duality, the battle between purity and temptation, and the moments when you give in.” The result is a track that feels both euphoric and unsettling, built to make listeners dance relentlessly while drawing them into its darker emotional undercurrent.
