Ralph Session continues his fine run of form with another fantastic EP on the young but impressive Half Assed Records.
This release follows the two-part Boogie Down EP from Session which has had support from the likes of The Black Madonna, Luke Solomon & Jimpster, and builds on the warm, authentic, soul tinged house and disco sounds he serves up.
Opener ‘The Night’ is a soulful deep house tune in the mold of Kings of Tomorrow featuring knotted bass and warm chords that are joined by a loved-up diva vocal adding plenty of sparkle, this is sure to light up any dancefloor.
Then comes the slick ‘Lay It Down’, a perfectly atmospheric broken beat house cut, this time with bumping, live sounding drums and more downbeat and steamy chords. Vocals add an old school element that helps this one stand right out and brim with heart.
‘Feelings' is another excellent track that has a bump and grind feeling. Shuffling drums and an infectious bassline bring the groove, whilst big pianos add a hands in the air vibe and more exquisite chord work fleshes things out with real feeling. The package is completed by two instrumental versions of ‘The Night’ and ‘Feelings’.
This latest fresh EP from Ralph Session proves just how many styles and skills he has in his musical locker and further cements his position as one to watch in 2019.
