Stateside producer ACCIO plants his flag firmly in the sand of progressive house with his latest single ‘I Believe In Us’, a shimmering, hands-in-the-air progressive offering that sits firmly in the festival arena side of things.
Tuned into the kind of classic progressive EDM that dominated the early 2010s, ACCIO harnesses the power of anthemic drops, orchestral build-ups, and male vocals that float majestically over proceedings. From a calm, almost cinematic start he adds layers of synths, keyboards and percussion to gradually crank the tension towards the inevitable drop. It’s a time-tested formula that still rings all the bells if done right, and ACCIO doesn’t put a foot wrong.
‘I Believe In Us’ comes on the heels of previous singles ‘Set Me Free’ and ‘Like A Ghost’, singles that have seen ACCIO transition from his previous musical incarnation of Chris Costello into a new era influenced by fantasy and mythological narrative. Moving away from his previous soundscape into the world of progressive has given the classically trained pianist more freedom to indulge his composer’s ear in a more ethereal sounding form of electronica. It’s a journey that promises much more from a talent who clearly has a very definite vision in mind.
