‘Afterburner’ Marks a Bold New Chapter for Billain

Out now via Evolution Chamber, ‘Afterburner’ is the second of three lead singles from Bosnian sound designer and electronic innovator Billain, taken from his ambitious new album ‘Mirror’, landing 29th August 2025.

Known for pushing sonic boundaries across drum & bass and beyond, Billain continues to defy genre expectations on ‘Afterburner’. It’s a brutal, bass-heavy workout, layered with razor-sharp sound design and emotional undercurrents that draw on the cinematic energy at the heart of his sound. The track follows ‘Doomed Heart’, which dropped last month as the first taste of ‘Mirror’. Together, they set the tone for what’s to come: a 17-track deep dive into the psyche of one of bass music’s most forward-thinking minds. Across ‘Mirror’, Billain merges his love of storytelling, complex audio architecture and deeply textured atmospheres, creating a full-body listening experience that reaches far beyond standard club music.

The album’s full preview will take place in August at Let It Roll, where fans can join Billain for an Ask Me Anything session and an exclusive listening party event, held during the world-renowned festival. Billain will also perform a DJ set on the Evolution Chamber stage, debuting never-before-heard tracks from ‘Mirror’ in a high-impact headline performance.

This next phase in Billain’s journey is more than just another album cycle.

In collaboration with Evolution Chamber, ‘Mirror’ will arrive as a fully immersive concept release, accompanied by original artwork, limited-edition merchandise, collectable items, and interactive elements, all designed to explore the question of identity in an age of distorted realities.

It’s a bold statement from an artist who’s no stranger to crossing boundaries. Billain has worked across multiple disciplines, from scoring Hollywood films like Hunter Killer and Pacific Rim Uprising, to designing soundscapes for the video game Scorn, and producing complex audiovisual art through his alter ego, AETHEK. His previous album ‘Nomad’s Revenge’ earned a nomination for Best Album at the British DnB Awards, supported by a short film featuring collaborators from Blade Runner and Foreign Beggars’ Orifice Vulgatron.

As ‘Mirror’ edges closer, ‘Afterburner’ sets the next chapter in motion, cementing Billain’s status as one of the most conceptually daring and technically advanced artists operating in electronic music today.

For Evolution Chamber, the release signals another creative milestone.

Since launching in 2019, the label has become a driving force in cutting-edge drum & bass, with a core roster featuring artists such as Magnetude, Joe Ford, Task Horizon, Ekwols, Receptor, Skrimor, and more. Known for its sharp visuals, forward-thinking A&R, and global events, including its own stage at Let It Roll, Evolution Chamber continues to redefine what a DnB label can look and sound like in the modern era.
