Solar Distance is a label headed up by Spanish artist UNER, and like the label boss it has a deep and melodic sound incorporating elements of both house and techno.
The most recent Solar Distance release was an EP from Italy's Luca Maniaci whose music has also been featured on imprints ranging from Josh Wink's Ovum Recordings to Florian Meindl's FLASH.
Luca Maniaci describes himself as having a love of real instruments and that can be hear in his Solar Distance release, which although techno focused also has a lot of intricate notation.
Opening with the title track “Alba” it has an instantly uplifting tone that runs through the release, and it sets the mood for the rubbery acid line of “Destino” which lifts the energy up a gear, before finishing with the epic pads of “Horizon”.
Each of the tracks follow a similar formula, to form part of what is overall a well-rounded EP, but for us “Horizon” just nips ahead of the others to be the stand out track on the release.
