Pop Rox Muzik welcomes Alex Marciano, Vindes and Bran Vargas to their 2014 schedule with the release of ‘Rock Me’ a vocal anthem that’s pulled together a collective of classic synths and given them a 2014 makeover with brilliant results. Keeping up their reputation for presenting the very best in new electronic dance music – the label has once again delivered the good with an original vocal that’ll leave any dance music fan with happy ears.
The retro synths are the first elements that demand your attention – gliding up and down like an electric guitar solo straight out of the eighties, there’s nothing stereotypical about this production effort. Analogue sounding and rich in every layer, the production of ‘Rock Me’ deserves serious ratings, but nothing less than we’d expect from Alex Marciano and Vindes – two seriously well developed producers. The vocal from the talented Bran Vargas is rinsed in a vintage-sounding vocoder, perfectly complimenting the retro vibe of the production. The breakdown challenges the norm of four to the four dance music and unravels into a cocktail of synths firing off into various rhythms and patterns that somehow fall apart and tie back together perfectly. The drop brings back the House tempo and introduces a warm offbeat bass and sub by kicks that are followed by snappy snares both on the offbeat and into rising rolls and fills.
The whole production is an old meets new format that merges the memorable sounds of classic 80s styles with modernistic EDM. It might not be the easiest track in the world for DJs to beat match with its memorable breakdowns – but sit back and enjoy this classy production as it brings back flavours of some of the finest musical eras of recent history and laces them with a double-dose of 2014 dance music. Alex Marciano, Vindes and Bran Vargas have done a superb job on ‘Rock Me’ – it’s a truly original release and is right at home with Pop Rox Muzik.
