Ali Rez drops groove-packed album ‘Simon Phoenix’

Queens-based artist Ali Rez recently unveiled his latest album Simon Phoenix. Known for his genre-crossing production style, Ali embarks on his latest with the intention to dance. Across six tracks and a bonus, Ali Rez brings in electronica, funk, synth-wave, R&B and hip-hop, filling floors with dynamic frequencies and raw lyrical performances.

The album draws both visual and thematic inspiration from the 90s film ‘Demolition Man’, taking its name from the film’s villain, who was portrayed by Wesley Snipes. Its soundscape is ever-evolving, transforming energy levels and bringing listeners on a journey of euphoric moments. Executively produced by Rez’s long-time collaborator Bankwell, it marks a step up for the queer, first-generation Iranian American, sharing in his own words:

“Our intention was for this album to have a higher-energy, dance-oriented feel. I think as soon as you hear the songs, you have no choice but to move your body! We aimed to capture the euphoria of getting ready to go out with your friends – embodying the feel-good music you’re playing when you all get in the car to hit up that newest club or bar.”
