Following the first UK Radio spin from BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac, we bring you ‘Fantasy, the alluring debut offering from enigmatic new collective Alina Baraz & Galimatias, released on Friday 14th August via The Full Hundred.
With its captivating vocal lines wrapped around voluptuous bass chords, Fantasy has already amassed over 18 million plays across Soundcloud, Spotify and YouTube as well as sitting in Spotify Top Viral 50 since the Autumn of 2014 in the US. Fantasy is an emphatic statement of things to come from this new collective.
Adding to the furor online is a soulful house re-working by Felix Jaher, leading with a stripped back piano chord intro before making way for warm percussion and a downbeat dance beat. Following this, Canadian native producer and DJ Pomo has offered an up-tempo funk-tinged reinvention of the ambient original, adding Detroit Hip Hop influenced beats and claps that crescendo to a head bouncing drop. Still to come is the much-anticipated remix from French deep house DJ, Teemid.
Baraz caught the attention of Danish producer Galimatias when she composed a song titled‘Drift’ over one of his productions and the duos partnership soon flourished culminating in their soon to be released EP, Urban Flora.
