Contemporary Techno powerhouse Anahit Vardanyan is about to enchant the electronic music scene with her newest release, “Avyun EP,” via Elektrons. The EP, dropping May 31st, is Anahit’s debut on Hannes Bieger’s label and merges traditional Armenian sounds with contemporary electronic music.
Producing and performing with a rich background in classical music, Anahit integrates her Armenian heritage and german club experiences into her latest EP. The title track, “Avyun,” fuses Armenia’s ancient instruments duduk and dhol with thriving basslines and tight synths, crafting a mesmerizing, driving atmosphere. Anahit describes “Avyun” as “a celebration of the eternal bond between a people and their homeland.”
In the wake of “Avyun,” the EP’s second single, “Haratev” (Armenian for Eternity), follows June 14th. Lleading into a mesmerizing melody is a heartfelt piano intro carried by pulsating rhythms. Anahit explains it’s “a reminder that even in chaos, there exists a light guiding us towards hope and resilience.” While oozing sorrow, there’s sublime hope and resilience worked into the tracks musical language, making “Haratev” an intense follow-up.
Anahit’s personal touch extends to the artwork for the release, with each track visually represented in her very own paintings. This makes “Avyun EP” an experience for more senses than one, making it a showcase of her unique blend classical and modern – old and new.
