Jacky - Apache EP

Now well into its stride, Red Lunar Records is back with EP number five. The first four have all been essential things that stood out from the crowd and this latest one is no different. Across four firing cuts Jacky and remixers De La Swing and Alexis Raphael really heap on the beats.

Opener 'Apache' is hurried and urgent, sucking you in and demanding you dance as the macho drums and sweat inducing perc hammer home the groove. 'Pipski' is just as relentless and restless, with ducking and diving drums, rolling bass and clever filter sweeps and bass kills that bring real dynamism to the tune. Then come the remixes, the first, by De La Swing, is a playful, fat bottomed cut that swoops and swaggers until a wild 303 line rips up the play book and blasts your head off. Last of all, long-time London producer and former pirate radio man Alexis Raphael steps up with a take on Pipski that is chunky and robust, with loose limbed drums and slamming kicks. All in all, a no nonsense EP for lovers of pure house vibes.
