Newly based in London, Naz, the Australian-Iranian producer/DJ/fantasy author, releases the next multimedia-linked chapter (literally as well as musically) in her New Eden Records story project with techno cut ‘Nafas’, out now.
Uniquely, not only is her work fed by fantasy fiction and gaming, but Naz creates each New Eden release as a full fantasy fiction chapter, the music track, and an accompanying video clip as illustration. Over time, the story grows, not only easily accessible in real life/online form but possibly in VR, perhaps ultimately as a video game.
‘Nafas’: a bounding beat fuzzy with reverb, along with an industrial-flavour riff, usher in an echoing female vocal as the beat becomes a breaksy, assertive drum galloping into the massive breakdown, vocal riff and synth building to a K2 avalanche of a drop, with a fast ride to the satisfying end.
Says Naz: ‘Nafas, which means ‘Breathe’ in Farsi, takes you through the ebbs and flows of breathing when faced with something that makes your heart beat a little faster, something that gives you a thrill. And that’s kind of the journey this song takes, ramping up to an explosive moment and then just letting go.’
Speaking of journeys, Naz has swiftly blasted through the ‘emerging’ stage, with sets inc. Brooklyn Mirage, Drumsheds, The Gorge, Piknic Electronik, Creamfields, sharing stages with Tale Of Us, CamelPhat, Above & Beyond, Qrion… and has also relocated from NYC, to LA, and now to London.
