London-based electronic duo Avec Sans have revealed their latest single, ‘Resonate’, out now.
The pair are Alice Fox and Jack St James, who hail from Manchester and Trinidad respectively. They started performing together in 2013, quickly gaining recognition for their energetic live shows. Their music immediately caught the attention of the fashion world, with the pair being named ‘Band of the Year’ by Dolce and Gabbana, as well as being featured on Vogue and Elle, and being invited to perform a DJ set for the Milan launch of luxury brand Sandro.
Aiming to break down the walls of electronic laptop performances, the Avec Sans sound is built around Jack’s experimentation with hacked Launchpad controllers, of which he is an endorsee for manufacturer Novation. Jack uses several of the controllers in tandem to display light shows as well as to produce the music, resulting in a shimmering synthpop sound that has drawn comparison to Chvrches.
As well as enchanting the fashion sphere, their smart songwriting and captivating hooks have also been championed by the likes of Notion, Noisey and Pop Justice. With three singles already under their belts, Avec Sans are also active remixers, having re-worked tracks from electro-pop collective Swiss Lips and Pitchfork-approved Haerts.
The release of ‘Resonate’ will be supported with a number of live performances, including at The Great Escape and Kendal Calling festivals, with more shows yet to be announced. To date, the band have played alongside the likes of Little Boots, Capital Cities and Kate Boy, and they have recently been touring around Europe as well as the UK, including a headline show at Lottarox Summer Festival, and a sell-out date at Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen.
Armed with a dynamic performance style to match their glistening summer vibes and a debut album in the pipeline, Avec Sans show no signs of slowing down.
