Faithless’ 1995 classic ‘Insomnia’, one of the world’s most recognisable and iconic dance records, has been remixed by Avicii as part of the band’s forthcoming 20th anniversary compilation, ‘Faithless 2.0’.
Set for an exclusive first play this Friday via legendary broadcaster Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1, Avicii’s remix joins names like Tiesto, Eric Prydz, Above & Beyond, Armin van Buuren and Booka Shade on ‘Faithless 2.0’ – all of whom have been enlisted to provide fresh reworks on classic Faithless material.
Transforming a record that has spent 20 years breathing life into dance floors and festival stages across the globe is no easy task, but as one of the world’s most successful dance acts in 2015, Avicii’s remix joins the dots between then and now in the world of electronic music. Tapping into the anthemic, hands-in-the-air euphoria that has come to characterise ‘Insomnia’, he works flourishes of contemporary electro – as well as a powerful, thumping lead bassline – into the band’s original mix, still leaving plenty of room for Maxi Jazz’s iconic vocals to transfix in the way they did in 1995.
Avicii’s remix of ‘Insomnia’ will be available to buy and stream across all digital platforms from Friday 24th July.
