Avicii – Wake Me Up!

Avicii’s new single ‘Wake Me Up!’, the first to be taken from his hotly anticipated forthcoming album ‘True’, is officially out now.

Since premiering, the reaction to ‘Wake Me Up!’ has been phenomenal. A rip of the track’s first radio play has already amassed 5.5 million views on youtube alone, going straight in at Hype Machine #1 and subsequently #1 in Shazam’s pre-release and Top 200 charts, while the lyric video is closing in on 16.3 million views and counting. Officially released on Sunday the single has gone straight in at No.1 on iTunes in the UK following the highest pre-orders of 2013 and selling close to 90,000 singles in just one day. ‘Wake Me Up!’ is currently No.1 in 23 countries and has peaked at No.1 in 39. It is on course for the biggest week one sales of the year.

The forthcoming official video for ‘Wake Me Up!’ which is set to premiere on 29th July, is directed by revered American photographer Mark Seliger, who has shot everyone from The Rolling Stones to Kurt Cobain and covers for the likes of GQ and Vanity Fair, and produced by At Night Studios. The first teaser of the video is available to watch now below!

The new single and album are the next evolution in a whirlwind few years for Avicii that have seen him ascend the ranks of dance music at a startling rate and comes off the back of his first official UK chart number 1 single on ‘I Could Be The One’ with Nicky Romero. Never afraid to take on new challenges, he also recently scored the theme music for this year’s Eurovision song contest alongside Bjorn and Benny from ABBA, which was held in Malmo in his native Sweden.

Used to a hectic schedule, this summer looks busy even by Avicii’s standards. Alongside his residency at Ushuaia, Ibiza throughout the season, he will be playing headline slots at the first EDC London and Creamfields in the UK. He recently joined leading tastemaker Pete Tong on his Radio 1 show on 5th July for an interview and exclusive guest mix.

‘True’ is due to be released by PRMD / Positiva on 16th September 2013.
