Next up on Rebellion is the duo Azimute with the otherworldly ‘Where Is The Magic’. Having previously released on Crosstown Rebels last year, 2015 brings a new and updated edit and original track to its sister label Rebellion.
“‘My Dream’ was created when we were touring and had similar weird dreams. Ironically Damian had vision of a re edit of ‘Where Is The Magic’ and this EP captures the essence of all 3 of our experiences”. Azimute
‘Where is The Magic’ (2015 Rebellion Edit) introduces us to an ethereal, female vocal that encourages fantasies. Who is she…and what is the magic? Futuristic sounds that echo and bounce creating an enchanting experience. The next stop is ‘My Dream’ filled with swirling, cosmological sounds that punctuate a breathless and repetitive beats ascending into a dream-like state.
Cesare Marchese and Philippe Quenum are Azimute, recently solidifying their partnership through releases on Crosstown Rebels and Transmit Records. They regularly DJ and last year saw them create a special live set at the Umbria Jazz Festival whist also running their limited edition, vinyl only label Azimute Music.
Marchese and Quenum have been respected figures within the electronic music scene for some time with combined solo releases on labels such as BPitch, Control, Get Physical, Soma and NovaMute. Marchese also runs his own label Serialism and was named the “Beatport One to Watch” in 2009. Quenum has been working in music for over 20 years and started his first label Access58 in 1995 and subsequently co-founded Cadenza Records with Luciano in 2003.
The next few months are set to be busy for Azimute with a release on Serialism coming out in August and the ‘Transmat EP’ set for release in October.
