London based UKG visionary bangus debuts his collaboration with revered Grime MC Trim on their new single ‘Passion Smack’ out on 15th May via his own imprint Vibe Injection Records.
A high-energy anthem, ‘Passion Smack’ fuses gritty UK Garage basslines with punchy breaks over a high octane garage beat. The track pulls you in with an infectious energy, driven by sharp drums and the effortlessly raw vocals from Trim. Together, bangus and Trim have created a club-focused track that’s both edgy and hypnotic. ‘Passion Smack’ has already garnered support from BBC Introducing and will be played on 26th April, followed by making its live debut at bangus’ highly anticipated event bangfest2 on Saturday 31st May.
The track follows bangus’ recent single ‘Ring The Alarm’, which earned praise from industry tastemakers Beatport and Juno Records, and builds on the success of ‘Switch’ and ‘Dice’ which received widespread acclaim hitting #2 on Beatport’s Breaks, Breakbeat and UK Bass chart, featured on Rinse FM’s Electronic Playlist, and additionally supported by industry tastemaker Jess Izatt on BBC Introducing.
bangus, aka Angus Reynolds, has spent his life immersed in music, with a foundation in drumming that shaped his passion for electronic music. His sound draws from the garage and grime eras, creating an eclectic mix of influences that define his unique production style.
After a standout year performing at iconic venues like The Cause, Pickle Factory, and Village Underground, bangus is gearing up for an exciting summer. Trim is easily one of the most innovative and unique voices to come out of grime. A belligerent poet who often ranks high in the lists of the Greatest Ever Grime MCs, all while existing somewhere way off to the left of the actual scene. Beginning his career as a member of Roll Deep he has since released countless mixtapes and been part of multiple, varied collaborations with artists inside and outside of his scene. These include, but are not limited to, James Blake, Mark Pritchard, Skream and Pinch.
