BASSICALLY, aka Raz Olsher has been building up huge acclaim for his electronic releases recently, including love from BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, DJ Mag, Cool Hunting, Dancing Astronaut and many more. Following his incredible remix of Sun Ra’s ‘Nuclear War’ that came out earlier this year, BASSICALLY has now dropped an original 4 tracker.
The ‘Honey Trap’ EP is full of sweet tasting allure set to capture you this winter. The title track opens the EP, hooking us in with a hypnotic glitchy build up that makes way for a deep groove. Next up is ‘Baby Steps’, with its infectious pulsating synth bass line. Then we have ‘Jaguar Paw’ which breaks things down for a fierce experimental percussive affair, growling with ferocious bass. Finally, the joyously colourful ‘Catchweight’ wraps up the EP experience nicely, flecked with cosmic afrobeat flavours.
The EP and other song titles, leave much to the imagination and interpretation of the listener as Olsher takes us on another electronic journey as he moves us through minimal house, techno, afrobeat and chillwave. Swathes of atmospherics flood in and out of this eclectic flourishing jack-house exploration that leaves us wanting more. Intoxicating and bursting with ear candy, we invite you to take the bait and dive right into the honey trap!
