Today, Australia’s What So Not unveils 'Be Ok Again', his first on Counter Records. This deeply personal song not only features legendary rockstar (and Silverchair frontman) Daniel Johns, but What So Not himself writing and performing vocals for the first time as well.
"Immediate paralysing sadness, optimism, nervousness and excitement. This song explores how we redefine and rebuild our reality upon dramatic ends to relationships. It was inspiring bringing someone of Daniel’s calibre in on this piece and I’m thankful for how much he pushed me creatively." – What So Not
“Watching Emoh work is eye opening. A real professional with great vision. We worked on tracks for this album and we’re really proud of the work. I’m excited for people to hear the first taste of our collaboration, 'Be Ok Again'.” – Daniel Johns
Balancing prolific touring and studio time, 2017 has seen What So Not close Coachella’s Gobi tent and headline Australia’s Listen Out festival and sold out shows across Europe, the USA and UK.
What So Not’s anthemic RÜFÜS Remix, his Skrillex and RL Grime collaboration 'Waiting' and fan favourite 'Better' ft LPX (MS MR’s Lizzy Plapinger) have all been doing the rounds in DJ’s festival sets, coupled with radio support from MistaJam (mix), Jamz Supernova (mini mixtape) BBC 1Xtra and Diplo & Friends, Annie Nightingale, SiriusXM & triple j.
His creative sphere has not been limited to music either, delving into the writing and co-directing of music videos (for his EP title track 'Divide & Conquer' and 'Trust' featuring model/actor Shaun Ross), conceptualising his 600 square foot ‘Peacock Horse Monster-truck’ and heavy involvement in all aspects of the show programming.
