BEC drops pumping techno remix of Sonique classic ‘It Feels So Good’

Fast-rising DJ and producer BEC has remixed the legendary Sonique track ‘It Feels So Good’, out now.
Announcing itself with forceful kick drums that make way for euphoric breakdowns and Sonique’s instantly recognisable vocals, the BEC remix of ‘It Feels So Good’ is a techno stomper that successfully retains the magic of the original.
“I grew up in the 90s in England, and heard Sonique on the radio all the time through my child and teenage years,” BEC recalls. “The words and general vibe of ‘It Feels So Good’ gave me such a euphoric feeling. Even as a youngster sitting in my Mums car. I look up to Sonique as an incredible power woman. A female force emanating love and bliss through her music.
She continues: “I had the idea to remix her track whilst sitting in my studio and stumbling across it on a hard drive. I wanted to use Sonique’s voice and lyrics as much as I could, and leave them relatively untouched – to give them all the glory. I wrote some epic drum patterns, in my usual style, gated the synth line so it sat above the tough drums, wavering and giving the track a euphoric texture that builds to a high point in the main break.”
British vocalist Sonique originally released ‘It Feels So Good’ in 1998, with the track peaking at #24 on the UK Singles chart. In 2000, in the wake of the song’s success in the US, the single was re-released and spent three weeks at #1 on the same chart, becoming the third-biggest-selling single of 2000 in the UK.
A relentless techno talent, BEC has got to the top in a very short space of time. She was headhunted by Pan Pot for their influential Second State label from her first release, then snapped up by Carl Cox’s Intec and Adam Beyer’s Drumcode. Not only has she put out her music on those labels, but has also played with them as a tour member at showcases everywhere from Burning Man to Tobacco Dock and Warehouse Project. Add in solo tours of North & South America, Asia, India and Europe and much talked about sets at Fabrik Madrid, Watergate Berlin and Sunwaves Romania, and you have one of techno’s brightest contemporary stars.
The BEC remix of ‘It Feels So Good’ injects some modern dancefloor energy into a certified 90s classic.
