Since exploding onto the scene, American DJ and producer Dangerouz’s rise to the top of the EDM ladder has been nothing short of mesmerizing. With release such as ‘Kingpin’, ‘Police Raid’, ‘Brenessy’ and ‘Dynasty’ under his belt, he is no stranger to the Beatport Top 100 Charts – a monumental accomplishment for any calibre of artist. With the release of his highly infectious record ‘Faded’ just past, we jumped at the opportunity to sit down with the Mcallen based artist to talk about the record.
Hi Dangerouz, thanks for taking time to answer these few questions. For those who aren’t familiar with you, can you tell us a bit out yourself?
Hey guys – thanks for having me. I’m a DJ and producer from Mcallen, Texas, mainly known for the my tracks ‘Candyman’ and ‘Faded’.
How would you describe a typical Dangerouz track using only five words?
Bass mods and cool vibes.
You have recently just released your newest single ‘Faded’. How did the idea for the track come about?
I honestly went into the track session for ‘Faded’ with no direction whatsoever – all I knew was that I wanted to produce something at 100 beats per minute.
You decided to release ‘Faded’ as a free download. What were your reasons for doing so?
To thank my fans for all their support over these past 2 years.
Can you tell us a bit about your workflow when producing ‘Faded’?
A very intense tracking session for sure – I’m a hustler in the studio I like to track fast and move on, so after I got the drums going I started adding everything else around.
What do you enjoy the most about producing? Programming drums, writing melodies?
Tracking is the best part because you get to hear your music come to life in front of your ears – it’s the best feeling about it. Mixdowns can be a headache of their own.
Do you mix and master your own productions or do you get help from an engineer?
I mix everything myself but I always let my engineer master my productions – I can’t seem to get the dynamics the way he does.
How long did it take to produce the record?
4 days roughly – 3 day tracking session and a 1 day mix session.
Will you be doing a production walkthrough of the track?
Yeah I’m going to make a video of the mix in Cubase.
Where did you get your inspiration from when producing the track?
At the time of producing ‘Faded’, I heard a lot of Ookay ‘Thief’ and it inspired me to make a cool jam with a lot of dope energy.
Can we expect a follow up single to ‘Faded’ in a similar style?
Most definitely in the near future – stay tuned…
What can we expect in terms of future releases and plans from Dangerouz?
I have a very busy schedule for August coming up as I have a total of 3 releases in that entire month so be ready for that.
