After thrilling countless fans the world over since the beginning of this year, Major Lazer and Showtek have finally unleashed their highly-anticipated collaboration: ‘Believer’. The track already caused a myriad of breathtaking moments at festivals such as Parookaville, Lollapalooza, Burning Man and Rock Am Ring, now seeing its official release on Showtek’s SKINK and Diplo’s Mad Decent label.
Showtek, one half of this titanic collaboration, consists of Dutch brothers Wouter and Sjoerd Janssen. The duo counts as one of the leading acts when it comes to producing club-smashing dance music and they keep spawning killer tunes time and time again. Since starting their endeavors, Showtek have proven their worth twenty times over with worldwide hit singles ‘Cannonball’, ‘Booyah’ and ‘Bad’, securing a spot in the top 5 of the UK Singles Charts.
Now, the Dutchmen drop ‘Believer’, their third release in a short amount of time. The single comes hot on the heels of recent singles ‘Mellow’ (with Hardstyle legends Technoboy & Tuneboy) and ‘Swipe’; both singles have been accumulating loads of momentum around the world. Their recent creations and collaboration show that they keep exploring uncharted territory in the pop/dance music scene to venture past the boundaries of Electronic Dance Music.
Major Lazer is the collaborative project led by Grammy award-winning DJ and producer Diplo. Made up of Diplo, Walshy Fire and Jillionaire, Major Lazer sees ‘Cold Water’, their latest hit collaboration with Justin Bieber and MØ, rack up massive airplay around the globe, all the while thriving in the top 3 of most streamed tracks worldwide.
Previously, Major Lazer released ‘Peace Is The Mission’ as their third studio album in the summer of 2015 and subsequently got the world going crazy over lead single ‘Lean On’ (feat. MØ & DJ Snake). The song now counts as the most streamed song on Spotify (over 862 million streams) and hit the world’s most esteemed official charts (e.g. Billboard Top 100, UK Singles Charts), all the while racking up over 1.6 billion views for the song’s official music video on YouTube.
Major Lazer: “We came across this song running through Trinidad’s underground scene with a creative collective called Freetown and turned the original reggae dub plate version into an inspirational festive and club song. We wanted something from that classic Major Lazer sound and got some amazing help from one of our favorite production teams: Showtek. We delivered something we just couldn’t do without them… this one is going all year until next summer."
Showtek: “It’s been almost two years since we sat down with Diplo in his studio in LA. We are both fans of each other’s sound and combining both styles has turned out great! Music is a universal language that brings people together, no matter their race, religion, culture or skin color. Connection on every level is a powerful thing. We experienced that as artists in the studio and tried to let that shine through in the collaboration. We believe this song represents such a positive message. We are very excited for this release and hopefully we can work on something else in the future.”
