Taking over Tempelhof Airport for one marathon 48-hour party on September 5-7, Berlin Festival promises to be one unforgettable weekend, soundtracked by only the most diverse, promising and talked-about acts from around the globe.
Adding to the already star-studded lineup, a third set of world-class acts has been announced: Digitalism (DJ set), Dieter Meier (Yello), Kindness, Hudson Mohawke, Rustie, Jazzanova (DJ set), Jimmy Edgar, Jacques Greene, and more join Woodkid, Moderat, Editors, Sven Väth, DARKSIDE, Warpaint, Jessie Ware, Kid Ink, Bombay Bicycle Club, Trentmøller (live), Chase and Status (DJ set), Crystal Fighters, Neneh Cherry & Rocketnumbernine, Mount Kimbie, Foreign Beggars and many more for the weekend’s festivities. Plus, Berlin institutions Yaam, Splash!-Mag and more step up to host arenas across the weekend.
Revered duo Digitalism will showcase their distinctive rock-electronica with a high-energy DJ set, while conceptual artist and front man of the legendary Yello band Dieter Meier performs, ahead of the release of his first solo album. Enigmatic Scottish talent Hudson Mohawke heads to Berlin, and indie-disco outfit Kindness supply feel-good vibes with their uplifting sound.
Digital maximalist and forward-thinking producer Rustie attends with his penchant for bass-heavy dance-floor bangers. Jazzanova showcase their eclectic tastes with a DJ set, K7’s Jimmy Edgar brings his jazz-funk and R&B-influenced electronic noise, soundboy Jacques Greene demonstrates a futuristic fusion of house and garage, and Taktloss brings heavy hip-hop beats.
Berlin Festival has teamed up with local institutions to create a real Berlin city spirit. Berlin Festival’s partner festival First We Take Berlin will showcase the very best up-and-coming talent with its own airfield stage featuring HVOB, Highasakite, Rüfüs and more. Club institution Yaam hosts the Yaam Yard, boasting international culinary specialities, chill-out area plus open-air stage. Splash!-Mag curates part of the programme, bringing Motrip, Taktloss, Karate Andi, DJ Stickle, Edgar Wasser & Fatoni and Retrogott & Hulk Hodn to Tempelhof. Berlin’s LGBT favourites SchwuZ brings its London Calling party, with karaoke from Sampson’s Cherry-O-Kie and so much still to be announced.
