This October will see Inxec deliver his ‘Better With A Hat’ EP via Costa Rica’s Half Seas Over, comprising three original tracks from the English artist.
Christopher Sylvester, better known to the world as Inxec has carved out quite the career for himself over the past decade having kick started his career via Jay Haze’s Contexterrior imprint initially before moving onto further reputable imprints like Culprit, Leftroom, Supernature and Last Night On Earth. Here we see Inxec return to the Costa Rican imprint Half Seas Over, following his ‘Cobtratones’ release last year which picked up support from the likes of Blond:Ish, Droog, Darius Syrossian and Kenny Glasgow.
Opening the package is ‘Gattaca’ which kicks things off on an ethereal dreamy tip with soft piano tones, airy pad lines and glitching electronics leading the way as weighty drums and a chugging bass line carries the hypnotic groove. Following is ‘The Other Side’, which takes things into more tripped-out realms with sweeping resonant synth blips, acidic bass licks and bubbling arpeggios running throughout its seven-minute duration.
The package is then rounded on with the third and final cut ‘Place Beyond The Pines’ which retains a similar aesthetic yet takes an eerier approach melodically, laying down ghostly pads and vocal murmurs alongside rumbling subs and stripped percussion.
Inxec’s ‘Better With A Hat’ EP is out on Half Seas Over 14th October 2015.
