Ninetoes joins the roster of Audiojack’s Gruuv label this February with his ‘Big Boy’ EP, accompanied by a remix from Davide Squillace.
German producer Ninetoes initially drew global attention from his 2013 hit ‘Finder’ on Kling Klong before going on to release material with the likes of Mathias Tanzmann’s Moon Harbour, DFTD and AVOTRE amongst others. Here we see Ninetoes become a welcome addition to the Gruuv roster, following recent releases from the likes of David Pher, James Dexter and label-founders Audiojack themselves.
The original mix of ‘Big Boy’ opens with haunting synth melodies, an infectious steel drum hooks and choppy vocal cuts running alongside bumpy rhythms and throbbing subs before Davide Squillace’s rework tips the focus over to a more groove-led style with a robust rhythmic drive and frenzied acid blips at its core whilst elements of the original steadily ease into the composition.
‘Drip Trip’ rounds out the package on a stripped-back tip via thunderous low end hits and modulating water drops running alongside murky spoken word vocal lines and stuttered guitar licks.
Ninetoes’ ‘Big Boy’ EP is out on Gruuv 23rd February 2018.
