Big Miz drops his Echorex debut – ‘Let The Smoke Out’ feat Theo Bleak

At home during lockdown, with clubs closed, Miz began the chord progression, thinking of music for headphones or a summer road trip rather than dancefloors as he added drums and melody in the studio. Feeling the track needed vocals, he put the word out on Instagram, and Theo replied. Says Miz, ‘I was buzzing as I had just discovered her a few weeks earlier supporting fellow Glaswegian Joesef. She wrote and recorded the vox on her own laptop and sent them remotely and that’s when I knew we were sitting on a winner.’ 

About Big Miz

Since the days of his early prominence as part of his local clubbing scene, Glaswegian artist Big Miz has developed into a key producer and DJ to emerge from the city’s ever fertile house and techno field, having played numerous UK and European shows as well as recorded Boiler Rooms live from Sub Club and Fly Open Air festival.

A prolific producer, his music and remixes are the secret weapons in his peers’ record bags – early tracks such as The Bomb and Hadal Zone continue to live proudly amongst more recent work such as his remix of Cub Sports ‘Always Got The Love’, his ‘Strange Faces’ EP and unreleased reworks of classics such as Kariyas’ ‘Let Me Love You For Tonight’.

About Theo Bleak

Dundee-based singer/songwriter Theo Bleak is the brainchild of Katie Lynch who created the moniker as an avenue to write and release songs about her experiences. She released two EPs–her debut EP Fragments in May and For Seasons in November, which was dedicated to the ecological crisis. She also supported Joesef on his UK/IE tour, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, and headlined two sold-out Edinburgh and Glasgow shows.

As she explains in an interview with The Skinny last year, ‘when I was writing songs, I realised how critical I was of myself and how often I wrote about myself in an exceptionally negative way. Creating Theo gave me an outlet to look at my life with more forgiving eyes.’ She also explains: ‘even though you can’t start fresh, you can choose the best pieces and create something new of yourself. Theo Bleak is a creation of that journey in many ways.’
