Groove Armada are ‘really feeling’ it, Ben Mono considers it ‘the perfect blend between house and techno’, Simon Morell colourfully describes the ‘old school samples and big fuck off drums’ as ‘perfect!’, whilst Brendon Moeller takes a more succinct approach, asserting it as simply ‘pure DOPE!’.
Billy Shane’s new release on Falk Recordings certainly evokes strong emotions from those in the know and with good reason. The Brooklyn based producer has developed his talent over many years in the NYC club scene and creates some of the most intuitive blends of house and techno around.
With previous releases on Steadfast and Tronicsole, his style fluctuates somewhere between Berghain techno and New York’s house scene – filled with emotion, soul and playfulness, whilst still cultivating a brooding and dense soundscape.
Hold Yor Heart – Billy’s second outing on Falk – is no exception. The twin-pack kicks off with 5.1, a deep and chunky heads-down techno number complete with upfront drum patterns, driving chords, hypnotic vocal snips and blissed-out shimmering rides. Hold Yor Heart brings up the rear with an uplifting take on the same theme, house-tinged, but with it’s feet still firmly in techno territory
Hold Yor Heart by Billy Shane is released by Falk Recordings on 3rd August 2015.
