Black V Neck Drop New Single ‘Check My Brain’ via Dirtybird Records

Celebrating 20 years of trailblazing releases, Dirtybird Records is kicking off its anniversary with a brand new single ‘Check My Brain’ from Miami-based duo Black V Neck out now.

Referencing their 2019 Dirtybird-released ‘Sex, Drugs, Alcohol’, ‘Check My Brain’ is a modern approach to Black V Neck’s eccentric sound. The track snakes its way through tech-heavy builds and deep house breaks, boasting all the trademarks of a Dirtybird classic with its bombastic energy and stimulating sound design. Fueled by rowdy rhythms and Ian’s playful AI-manipulated vocals, ‘Check My Brain’ is a nonstop heater that’s sure to make the rounds this festival season.

“We felt we had to go back to our roots and this type of record is a mix of our bouncy basslines, catchy hooks, with a twist of freshness on the breakdown. We couldn’t think of a better label than Dirtybird which encompasses those three things.” – Black V Neck

Miami natives Black V Neck (Ian & Julian) are a prime example of a Dirtybird’s dedication to growing its flock. The duo first appeared on Birdfeed in 2018 with ‘Stop ‘N Go’, being promoted to the main label in 2019 with their Mouth Music EP. Black V Neck have remained consistent faces with their 2020 follow up Bounce EP and an appearance on the 2021 Campout Compilation. The duo will also appear at Dirtybird’s upcoming show at The Den in Portland, OR on February 8.

Serving as the first release as part of Dirtybird’s 20th anniversary, ‘Check My Brain’ also debuts this year’s artist in residence, Sam Flores. The San Francisco-based visual artist and muralist is known for his urban and graffiti-inspired illustrations, making him the perfect fit to curate Dirtybird’s artistic direction.

Stream Black V Neck’s new single ‘Check My Brain’ available now on all platforms.
