Blue Capricorn, the visionary solo project of Dallas-based Latinx multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Rodrigo Caraballo-Marin, unveils a mesmerizing new single, “FANTÔME, JE NE RESSENTIRAI RIEN,” featuring the soulful Jacks Haupt. Known for his ambient, mood-driven soundscapes, Blue Capricorn continues to push the boundaries of dream pop, jazz, bolero, and experimental music.
“FANTÔME, JE NE RESSENTIRAI RIEN,” which translates to “Ghost, I won’t feel a thing,” is an ethereal track that beautifully melds trip-hop and indie experimental elements. The song is distinguished by its use of ambient drum machines and synths, creating a melancholic yet immersive sound. Haupt’s evocative vocals lend the track a modern edge reminiscent of Amy Winehouse, while paying homage to the 90s trip-hop era.
The concept for this haunting piece has been in Blue Capricorn’s mind for years, but it wasn’t until he discovered Jacks Haupt’s work that he felt he had found the perfect vocal match. “She has the voice, the energy, and the niche for it,” Caraballo-Marin reflects. The collaboration came to life in a single night at Michael Briggs’ studio in Denton, Texas, capturing the essence of the track with both artists deeply aligned in their vision.
The title “FANTÔME, JE NE RESSENTIRAI RIEN” resonates with themes of enduring yet inescapable love, as Haupt’s lyrics explore the lingering presence of a love that has run its course. Caraballo-Marin notes, “When Jacks was laying down vocals and lyrics, she mentioned themes of love that had run its course but was inescapable because it was everywhere. It perfectly matched the mood of the track.”
For fans of ambient, experimental music, this release reaffirms Blue Capricorn’s role as a trailblazer in creating atmospheric and emotionally resonant music.
