Dimensions Festival’s legendary boat parties have been at the heart of the festival since day one, and for it’s fifth birthday the boat party line-ups make the aquatic element of Dimensions more essential than ever. Label showcases come from Hessle Audio, Exit Records and Eglo Records, plus leading electronic names will be hosting nautical adventures including Resident Advisor, Electric Minds, Dance Tunnel, Feelings and Ampere. Across four days, twenty boat parties and eight stages, Dimensions is proving that 2016 will be it’s strongest edition to date, and tickets set to sell out in record time, now is the time to secure a place.
From midday cruises soundtracked by disco and soul to sunset techno sessions, it’s a feel-good, wavey expedition across the ocean in store for anyone attending a Dimensions boat party. Across the week, Adriatic outings come from over twenty of the labels, artists and names, kicking off with a day-time session from Copenhagen’s pioneering Strøm Festival at midday on Thursday with Kahn and Dj Spinn. Day one also sees Hessle Audio setting sail, London’s genre-defying label spearheaded by Ben UFO, Pangaea and Pearson Sound, as well as Huntley’s and Palmers Highlife institution, where Cómeme’s Matias Aguayo joins.
On Friday Dimensions-on-sea agenda starts with Midland, Dan Shake and Andrew Hill taking the reins for Abandon Silence, with Glasgow institution kings Sub Club bringing intergalactic flavours to their boat with a special guest joining their residents. Friday also sees London underground kings Dance Tunnel host Zenker Brothers and Space Dimension Controller plus partners Stamp the Wax bringing together some favourites for their boat. Canada’s Pender Street Steppers join selector supreme Josey Rebelle and STW residents for a special nautical soiree.
Next up, Eglo Records takes to the sea with Henry Wu, K15, Sassy J and the labels head honcho Alexander Nut. Long-term Dimensions Festival family Resident Advisor have a treat in store for their afternoon sail on Saturday, with Parisian party-starter Jeremy Underground joining Suzanne Kraft for soul-searching house and disco sounds. DnB ups the tempo on the Dimensions boats with dBridge’s Exit Records also on Saturday, sets come from dBridge himself, plus Alix Perez, Skeptical, Fixate and SP:MC. Dutch partners Zeezout showcase Australia's rising star Harvey Sutherland and festival regular Space Dimension Controller. Rounding things off is London’s mighty Electric Minds, with house explorations from Daniel Avery and Dolan Bergin, plus a special history of Chicago set from Loefah.
Sunday-funday starts with ‘We Bring You’ headlined by funky Chicago man Rahaan alongside a special guest to be announced. Sister festival Outlook presents a boat party for those looking for bassweight with The Bug feat Miss Red, Sam Binga & Hodge. London party crew Feelings have classic house experts Mood II Swing on board for their sunset boat. Finally, tripped-out selections from Intergalactic Gary and Detroit's DJ Stingray round off the line-ups. Expect high calibre techno, electro and cosmic sounds from these two.
