Braxton returns to Anjunadeep with double A side ‘Chiaroscuro/Torn’
Braxton makes a welcome return to renowned imprint Anjunadeep with double A side ‘Torn/Chiaroscuro’, out May 20th. ‘Chiarascuro’ was released on the label’s Vol.11 compilation and has been lauded as one of the best tracks of the year so far.
Accompanied by the fresh track ‘Torn’, this perfect summer two-tracker confirms Braxton as one of the hottest UK talents on the electronic music circuit.
Since his debut on Anjunadeep with ‘When the Sun Goes Down’ in 2019, he’s established himself as the tastemaker’s favourite and remixes for the likes of RUFUS DU SOL, Tourist and GRADES have previously won the support from BBC radio royalty.
‘Chiaroscuro’ brings back breakbeat with a 90s inspired sound perfect for clubs and headphones moments alike. It plays with layers of sound and shifting synth textures for the ultimate uplifting vibe.
In ‘Torn’, the chilled vocals of Brighton newcomer Danni Wells tell a tale of heartache, whilst subtle cello lines meet soulful chord progressions to create a dreamy warm-weather hit.
Speaking on the double A-side, Braxton explains “‘Chiaroscuro’ is about contrast. That’s the theme in a lot of my music, melodically and sonically, I try to find a balance between darkness and light. ‘Chiaroscuro’ means the contrast between light and shadow – and the track was inspired by a world that exists between two opposing states. ‘Torn’ is a pure, moody progressive house record. I was in a darker place when I wrote it, which the tone of Danni’s voice really suits – it’s a good track to get lost in.”
