Alexis Raphael - Breaking The Walls Like 1989 EP

June 19th sees the celebrated UK-based DJ/producer Alexis Raphael release his debut EP on Mar-T’s prestigious Wow! Recordings entitled, ‘Breaking Walls Like 1989’.

This essential four-track release follows Alexis’ previous outings on revered labels such as Resonance Records, Lower East, ElRow Music, Culprit, Leftroom, Get Physical and not forgetting his anthem, 'I know', on Hot Creations, with almost 2 million YouTube views.

The EP’s title track, ‘Breaking Walls Like 1989’, kicks things off, encompassing a tight Tech House rhythm, a funky bassline, looped-up vocal samples and a tried and tested arrangement.

‘Loaded Up’ follows on, offering up more of a Jackin’ House groove than its forerunner, boasting a distorted and manipulated acidline, a Drum-and-Bass-esque vocal sample and a powerful bass frequencies.

Next up, the rising Barcelona/Ibiza-based DJ/producer CAAL delivers as tasty re-rub of ‘Loaded Up’, opting to incorporate the original’s acidline and vocal sample over a classic four-to-the-floor House groove with a deep and moody bassline.

‘Nightflight’ follows and concludes the EP in suitable style, serving up a lively Jackin’ House workout, boasting a plethora of old skool vocal snippets and a unique animal-esque sample/noise.
