Having featured on the Knee Deep In Sound Miami 2015 Sampler, Hot Since 82 welcomes Brian Cid back in to the fold with his Shift EP.
A man of the underground, Cid made his mark with the Extinct Records which he heads up, alongside shows at NYC’s Verboten, Sankeys, Pacha and further afield in London and mainland Europe. He also releases material on Poker Flat, Nervous and of course Knee Deep In Sound where he returns to here.
Title cut ‘The Shift’ opens and see Cid deliver a brooding slice of dark house with swelling organ hooks, expansive atmospherics and spacey bass drones running alongside its driving rhythmic swing. ‘Pitch Black’ follows and takes things a little deeper with vacillating guitar licks, dubbed out bass sequences and howling pad lines.
Brian then rounds off the package with ‘Coup’, a smoothly progressive and ever-unfolding closing piece fuelled by drawn out bass tones, elevating arpeggios and low-slung drums.
Brian Cid’s ‘The Shift’ is out on Knee Deep In Sound 13th July 2015.
